PROGRAM
A London based Forró addict since 2013, Shashi developed his Forró through extensive travels to more than 75 festivals as well as time spent living in Brazil. He has taught workshops and DJed throughout the world, including cities in the UK, Germany, France and Russia.
He founded a project called Forró Lab in 2019, teaching weekly classes in London as well as hosting special events including guest teachers such as Hugo Silva and Camila Alves.
18:00 – 19:15 | Workshop 1: Embrace | Open Level (Improver+)
One of the most important aspects of Forró is the embrace – it sets the tone for how a dance will unfold. In this workshop, we will explore methods to make your embrace more comfortable, fluid and create ‘always-on’ connection.
19:30 – 20:45 | Workshop 2: Roots Mechanics | Intermediate+
Roots is a newer style of Forró with more emphasis on the closed embrace dance, with a particular emphasis on footwork. In this workshop, we will explore the methods as well as the steps. You will learn how to better integrate the movements of Roots in your dance to make them your own.
***These workshops are not suitable for absolute beginners.***
21:00 – 02:00 | Party
After the workshops, Shashi will DJ for a special party. His sets focus on depth of musicality. His selection offers variety, great energy and layers to play with. This is not to be missed! 🔥
